Back in the USSA

Hello comrades, I welcome you, the United Socialist States of America, to Communism! It is great, no?

I imagine that was what a few of my political sparing partners were expecting when Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of America last night.

My school was surprisingly involved. I mean, really fired up. And it was split up pretty evenly. On the third, we held an election for the students which resulted in Obama winning by like 2 percent. In the senior class, it was 50/50. But like ever since the primaries, we’ve been talking about it.

All across the country people are praising the end of racism. It has been shattered. Obama winning certainly is a triumph over it, but I have seen prejudice in full force over the past months. My first introduction to the Illinois senator was through a friend. “There’s a guy running for president whose name is Barack Hussein Obama. I’d never vote for him with a name like that. He’s probably a terrorist himself. Gonna let his terrorist buddies into the White House.” I still haven’t been able to get through his ignorance. He’s been one of my biggest annoyances during this race. I haven’t heard one positive thing about McCain come out of his mouth, just negatives about Obama which are all unsubstantiated.

In fact today, he was ranting to me about how much Obama sucks because he supports welfare and how all poor people are just too lazy to find a job. Sitting across from us is a friend whose dad was laid off last year and still hasn’t been able to find work. This guy is pretty bad, but he belongs to a group of people who think that Obama is actually a Muslim terrorist. Good job guys, you caught him when no one else could. The whole Democratic Party nominated a terrorist without knowing it. But you guys, high school students, got it all figured out.

The “Obama is a secret Arab Muslim” thing is also very unsettling. But then they go and complain about his preacher. Meanwhile the media ignores McCain’s preacher. The one who believes that America was formed with the intention of destroying the “anti-christ religion” of Islam.

That assassination plot was not surprising. There are a lot of McCain supporters who support him out of hate for Obama. I’m not implying anything about McCain or his supporters as a whole, but damn, things got out of control at points.

Racism and bigotry will never cease to exist. It is in human nature to feel more comfortable around the familiar and feel threatened by what’s different. I’m not saying that this is the subconscience thought process in everyone. Over so many years, racism has developed. A redneck will hate a black because his dad told him to.

As for the socialist thing, what? Yeah, Obama’s secret Communist Revolution is gonna pass through Congress and the Supreme Court. Come on, you put too much faith in our political system. They would never pass up a chance on spreading wide the legs of integrity for lobbyists to thrust into with their buldging manhood.

Chinese Democracy, Free giveaways, and Poland Springs sucks

Axl Rose is finally releasing the first album with the new crew of Guns N’ Roses. It’s been in production for 14 years. Interestingly, 14 Years is the title of a GN’R song which includes the lyric “14 years of silence.” Axl’s such a dick if that was on purpose. But finally, it’s coming out November 23. Just when it seemed Chinese Democracy the political movement would come first before Chinese Democracy the album. If Axl intended this as some political statement, this would also make him a dick. Then again, pissing off your entire legendary classic lineup into quitting is a dick move already. So, Axl Rose is a dick. A dick who has a kick ass band. Or had. Maybe still has.

So anyway, after leaks and two single releases, I’ve gotten a pretty good feel of the album. It’s not the sex, drugs, rock n roll Guns N’ Roses we know. Even though it still features the distinct voice of Axl Rose, the sound is way different. Not entirely a bad thing if you keep an open mind. It’s a newer sound. Modernized, I guess. When I heard the single release of the title track, I thought to myself, Nine Inch Nails. Shackler’s Revenge, released on Rock Band 2 is rocking. And I really love the leaked versions of Better and Madagascar. I hope the final release improves on them. But the thing about the modernization of the sound is… well, I’d even describe it kinda like Rob Zombie or Marilyn Manson. It’s got a danceable beat. You can really hear it in Shackler’s Revenge.

Back to Axl rose being a dick, you know who’s not a dick? Dr. Pepper. I guess the CEO is a Guns fan and promised if Axl released Chinese Democracy in 2008, everyone would get a free Dr. Pepper. You’ll be able to claim that free bottle via the interwebs after the album’s released.

Which reminds me of how Taco Bell is following up on a similar promise of their own. Taco Bell said that if Tampa Bay Shortstop Jason Bartlett would steal a base during Game 1 of the World Series, he would be stealing a free taco for all of America. Tampa Bay lost the game, but who cares? He stole a base. I know where I’m going after school on Tuesday. FREE TACO.

Oh, and Poland Springs is a dick. I found out today about their eco-friendly bottle. The new design does is not a reduction of 30% plastic from the old one like the back of the bottle label would have you believe. It’s like 30% lower than competitor’s bottles. There was no reduction in material, it just looks cooler.
